The Mariposa Elementary School Staff welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year!
2014-2015 was a great year for MES. Students had more opportunities for hands-on learning. Staff spent an unprecedented amount of time in collaboration, leading to innovation, both inside and outside of the classroom. Parent involvement has been at an all-time high. Students, staff, and parents worked hard to improve MES in a number of areas and set high expectations for 2015-2016,
2015-2016 will see even more transformation at MES! Staff, with student and family input, have identified a number of focus areas that will lead to increased learning and a better experience for students. Collaboration will continue with renewed vigor through committee work, projects, early release days, and teacher collaboration days supported by our Site Plan. This will lead to better lessons with deeper integration between subjects and opportunities for students to work with students in other classrooms. School culture will be another major focus for MES. We have come a long way by establishing new traditions, such as Mondays at the Pole, Open Mic Fridays, and MES Weekly News. Our successes last year led to a new spirit of innovation. Our third focus area will be facilities improvement. We have already begun transforming the MPR into a space that will showcase student work and our school's successes. Other improvements will be making the campus safer and more presentable. Our most important focus will be instruction. We will be working to improve our instructional delivery so that students are more engaged and have more fun. Please join us in making our goals a reality for our students.
Thank you to everyone who made last year so productive. Please continue to partner with us as we increase our improvement efforts. We would like to encourage all stakeholders to get involved to make MES better than ever!
Best wishes for 2015-2016,
Permissive Absent Days
The school and teacher MUST be notified prior to a missed school day due to religious, personal, or heritage awareness. A permissive absence is permitted when there is prior knowledge of the absence, work is given to the student, and that work is returned completed the next day back to school. Mariposa Elementary School is excited to celebrate and acknowledge these important days with our students and their families.
